In one short week, LJ has gone from Noonoo obsessed to Noonoo vacant. After a few days of asking for it at bedtime only to find it was what was left of the last one he bit off, he stops asking and moves on. This transition has been much smoother than I could have imagined. Thanks LJ for letting us know when you were ready to get rid of your bedtime buddy, your favorite Noonoo!

I found it really hard to get used to the silence today. It was very odd having only half of my family home. It was great to spend some wonderful time with my two younger kids but I missed the noise, love and energy of my whole crew together.

Late this afternoon, I took the kids to a Halloween party at a nearby nature center. A-girl and I had fun getting the things together for her princess costume. Princesses are a favorite with her so it was easy to use her crown and wand from her birthday and the princess dress Grandpa A had given her on her birthday. She twirled around the yard and thoroughly enjoyed herself. LJ was another story. He hated his costume. He hates all jackets, extra clothing so this time of year is a treat. He was an alligator but didn't want the hood up.

At the nature center, we enjoyed a trick-or-treat trail, face painting, games and a petting zoo. It was great fun to watch LJ as he explored this rather new costume clad holiday. He often stared, sometimes got scared but for the most part took it all in with sheer enjoyment. I had hoped to get him to take a nap this afternoon but he was having nothing with that and fought me all the way. I was worried he would fall asleep or be so tired and crabby that it would make it hard for A-girl and I to enjoy. He was having so much fun it wasn't an issue.

A-girl was an awesome big sister, helping LJ when he needed help, making sure he got a candy and trying to direct him along the path (which he would rather she didn't). A-girl went confidently around the petting zoo and then was ready to leave. LJ took his time to get comfortable in the petting zoo and then didn't want to leave. He was so excited. He kept walking around the area saying "animals!" "mouse (for mouth)", "eyes" and was fascinated by the different animals. He wasn't too sure about the goat that tried to eat the head of his alligator costume though!

On the way home we stopped at the grocery store briefly and in the few blocks between there and home LJ fell asleep. Poor little guy was pooped out. A-girl and I enjoyed dinner alone together and then cuddle time and reading on the couch. At one point while we were on the couch, she said "Momma, I would like to sleep with you tonight but I think you might wet my bed so you better sleep in your own bed!" (Last night I let her sleep in my bed and she wet it).

Just in case you were worried she would be enjoying this time without her older siblings a little too much, I asked her what the best part of her day was (which I do each night) and she told me "L and AJ coming home tomorrow." I tired to tell her that wasn't really the best part of today as it was happening tomorrow but there was no changing her mind. She is very excited about going and getting the "big kids" tomorrow and that even beat out candy at the Halloween party in terms of being the best of the day's events.

Blurry due to excessive twirling!

Get me out of this thing!

LJ is really not too sure what to think. He stood there very still for quite a while even after I had convinced the goat to move on.

LJ is 21 months old

It is hard to believe that LJ is fast approaching his second birthday. I would love to share with you an awesome photo of him smiling at me but that wouldn't really capture true LJ at this point in time. Instead I could show you many of the back of his head, blurred images as he moves at a much faster speed than my camera and all the ones where he is half in the frame for the same reasons.

LJ is a boy on the go. He loves to run and climb, play ball (anything that involves a ball) and is starting to do puzzles, color, and play games. He loves books, riding in the wagon, going for walks and eating. His new word this week is "candy" and the timing couldn't be better with Halloween just around the corner.

I tried to get a photo of him with the pumpkin but he has this belief that all pumpkins should be thrown. I thought I would try the large one we have, however I found out he knew several new words I hadn't heard yet "kick", "push" "punkie (pumpkin) down!"

His language skills continue to amaze us as he adds in more and more words each day. He quickly learned some new words in the past two days to allow him to play board games with his sister. "turn," "dice" have been added to his vocabulary. He likes songs and is starting to ask for them by name "wee wee home" for "this little piggy went to market..." and "round" or "tickle" for "round and round the garden goes the teddy bear....."

LJ is also into throwing things if it seems to get him the attention he wants. He definitely is a rough and tumble guy and has learned how to tackle his big sister A-girl. He also has a very tender caring side that seems to come out when all the other kids go to bed. He finds one of the girls' dolls and gives them a ride in the stroller, cuddles with them saying "shhhh" He feeds his babies and takes them for walks around the house as well.

His favorite toys at the moment are trains, blocks, puzzles, balls, cars/trucks and books. He currently wears 3T shirts, 2T pants and size 8 shoes. His legs are still quite bowed and he seems to saunter rather than walk and somewhat resembles a Weeble tipping from side to side without falling over and of course grinning broadly as he goes along. He is a very happy go lucky kind of guy that doesn't seem to need as much sleep as the adults around him.

Happy month birthday little big guy!

Although this photo looks as though LJ is standing nicely he is saying "kick" and giving the pumpkin a boot as I snapped this shot!
