Not sure which is worse.

Whether my kids had no idea what an inmate was or that the older one read "intimate" in place of "inmate" on a bumper sticker!

The kids had gone out to the van ahead of me today as we left for a day adventure. When I got out the two older ones were asking me what "My child is this month's top intimate at the county jail" (a spoof on the ones stating "My kid is on the honor roll/top student") meant. I was confused but saw them staring at the bumper sticker on the back of a van parked in front of ours. I read it to them, "My child is this month's top inmate at the county jail" and they looked equally confused and the three oldest in unison asked "what is an inmate?!" The following conversation proved to be quite interesting as the humor and spin on the familiar bumper sticker was lost on them. They had a very literal interpretation and were trying to figure out who owned the van as they studied a group of people working on a house a few doors down.

Last night I was shopping for groceries, camp supplies and clothes for L and AJ who are going to camp for a week. They didn't have enough socks/underwear or shorts to last the weekend before camp (L and I will be at a girl scout camp til Sunday at noon and she will leave at 1:00 for the week long so no time for laundry). When I got home, I realized that one of the pair of shorts I bought AJ (who has decided to take a mid summer growth spurt and now doesn't fit any of the shorts I bought earlier this year) is reversible. What a concept. Does that mean that I only need half as many and he can wear them one day, turn them inside out and wear then the next? Sounds good. But the reality with him (as with most boys likely) after one day, especially at camp, I am sure they will need a deep cleaning!

Wait! Hold On! Summer has barely started, I have not recovered from the previous school year and am in no way shape or form ready to even think about heading back to school. It has not been a month since we were finished the school year and already the stores are preparing for Back to School. 4th of July is over and then we seem to go directly into marketing school supplies. Aisles and aisles of school supplies. The weather is finally warm, it is time to enjoy beaches, hang out by the pool and enjoy days without school schedules and homework. We are not looking for school supplies. We are still hanging on to summer. In a few weeks, we may be in a different mindset, but not now! Its summer time!
