Only AJ

S is out of town again this week, so getting the kids where they need to be is a bit of a juggling act. I sent Aj with the neighbors to go to his soccer game and I was to join them when L got picked up fro swim team. A couple of her friends have joined and we are trying to car pool (which in itself is a juggling act!). I ended up getting to the game later than I had anticipated as I was talking to our new neighbors about having their oldest daughter babysit later in the week. Anyway, I look up just moments after arriving at the game and see AJ score a goal. He is quite excited. Two shifts (his team is large enough that they have two full shifts and they rotate about every 5 minutes) later, he scored again. In the 30 minutes I watched, he was playing 15 minutes and scored twice. I asked him how the rest of the game went and he said his friend had scored. I asked if he had scored any other goals while I was away and he replied "No Mom. I waited til I saw you on the sidelines and then tried to score so you could see me!" Since his season ends Saturday and I won't be able to watch his game I was very grateful he waited for me to share those incredibly special moments. He gets so excited when he scores!

I then hurried AJ, A-girl and LJ to a meeting thinking I would be about 15 minutes late only to arrive and find no one there. AJ suggested I really should have brought the meeting information with me or asked in the building where the meeting was to have been. I told him I must have gotten the information wrong from my email and he told me that perhaps he should start checking my email and making sure we were where we were supposed to be. Turns out the emails they used to send the Friday before meetings is now coming out a week early and I was very early (like seven days!) for my meeting this evening.

We came home and I let the kids unwind and play trains until AJ had had enough of LJ destroying his tracks. Then it was off to bed as we waited for L to return home. AJ is easily distracted at any moment of the day but particularly when getting dressed. He just can't seem to stay focused. I had asked him three or four times to get his PJ's on and was in A-girl's room helping her find what she needed to get ready for bed. I come out of her room and there is AJ standing in the hallway with his soccer shirt stuffed into his soccer shorts. He announces "My wiener is so long I need to fold it over!" How does one respond to that?!?!? I must have given him this incredibly odd look as I tried to imagine where a statement like that had come from and wondering how his mind actually works to come up with stuff like that! My look must have left him wondering about me as he said "Mom, ya' know that its just my soccer shirt right??!!!" Again, I am left speechless as to how best to respond to him thinking the entire time, "no honey....I am wondering if I should take you to the ER and have them deal with you huge folded over wiener!!!"

Now, a few hours later, I am tired, wanting to be in bed but instead watching my non-tired, energy exploding toddler run through the house with A-girl's purse slung over his shoulder, cell phone in one hand and baby in the other pushing the stroller left pondering the question "what the hell happened to my children when I left for two days over the weekend?!?!?
